South Congress
Without a doubt, South Austin is one of the hippest and coolest neighborhoods in Austin. South Congress, or "SoCo" is the main area for shopping and home to much of what the slogan "Keep Austin Weird" really means. Located between Riverside and Oltorf in South Austin, the avenue is the home to hip boutiques, popular bars and restaurants, and quirky businesses. Walking distance from Downtown, so it is visited by thousands of tourists and locals daily

Once a month street vendors and artisans set up shop on SoCo for “First Thursdays,” a monthly event and outdoor market. South Congress shops also stay open late, often hosting in-store events and specials. South Congress epitomizes the laid-back and friendly vibe of Austin, and it offers a wonderful view of the Austin Capitol. Surrounding this vibrant shopping & dining center is one of the city's most coveted neighborhoods.
South Congress was a haven for retro clothing before it became SoCo. Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds is where Bob Dylan is rumored to have shopped for retro outfits. The avenue is lined with funky, unique to Austin stores with an Austin friendly feel.
