Located in Dripping Springs Texas, just a few miles southwest of Austin, lies one of the most breathtaking natural wonders in the Hill County. Many thousands of years ago, an underground river carved through the soft limestone rock, forming a dome shaped underground cavern. Eventually the cavern collapsed creating the U shaped grotto and pool. This historic swimming hole which was designated a preserve by the Travis County Commissioner's Court in 1990. The beautiful waterfall spills out over limestone outcroppings to create a dramatic 50 foot plunge into the head of a steep box canyon.
