There are more than 1000 caves known caves throughout the urban areas of Texas and about 800 of them are located in Williamson County! The Discovery Well Cave Preserve is made up of ten individual caves that are free and open to the public. Located at the corner of Anderson Mill Road and Lime Creek Road in Cedar Park, which is quickly becoming known as the Texas Cave Capital.
Discovery Well Cave Preserve is home to rare species such as the Tooth Cave Ground beetle. It is one of the few caves in Texas where visitors can experience hands-on learning and enjoy scenic hiking. The preserve often hosts educational events such as Cave Day, where visitors can hike the cave preserves, enter selected caves, and see a a century-old log cabin.
