The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Owned by the state of Texas, located at 1800 North Congress Ave just north of downtown was opened in 2001 by former Texas Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock. The museum tells "the story of Texas."
Three floors ofinteractive exhibits -- three themes as big as Texas history: Land, Identity and Opportunity tell the story . Other features include the special effects show, The Star of Destiny, in the Texas Spirit Theater, and Austin's only IMAX Theater,.
The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum IMAX theater, which features films ranging from educational movies to Hollywood blockbusters.
The museum features its own cafe and a gift shop that carries Texas-themed items. It is open Monday through Saturday 9am-6pm and Sunday 12am-6pm except on New Years Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day. Ticket packages and museum memberships are available.
