Just to the south and east of Downtown, Southeast Austin is conveniently located just east of IH-35.  This diverse area is known for affordable housing and apartments.  Many UT students live in the Southeast area.  The closer one goes to tSouth Austin, the more expensive housing becomes. Overall, Southeast Austin is very affordable.  With charming clusters of single family homes, this often overlooked area, has enormous potential.


Some attractions and other points of interest in Southeast Austin include, McKinney Falls State Park, several munciple golf courses, and the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.  The beauty of nature like every other area in Austin is just outside your door.  Lady Bird Lake hiking and biking trail, Pleasant Valley District Park and the Colorado Greenbelt.

The Mabel Davis District Park, recently reopened after major renovations, provides a wonderful outdoor sanctuary in this urban setting.  Close to 50 acres, including 30 acres of open green space, provide room for sports, picnics, and other activities.  The park also has a basketball court, an olympic-size swimming pool, a great playscape, and a good sized picnic area with shade.  The first skate park in Austin was opened here in 2005, featuring a skate bowl, streetscape elements.

Riverside, and Oltorf have many restaurants from which to choose. with types of offerings from all over the world, including Indonesian, Middle Eastern, Vietnamese, Italian and of course Mexican.  Cafe Ventana is a great place to meet, and quickly becoming the cultural center of the area.

Many developments in process, and many on the horizon, Southeast Austin is on the edge of becoming one of the hottest spots in town.
