Mount Bonnell is one of Austin's oldest attractions, dating back to 1850. This beautiful point of interest may be the best panoramic view of the area. It is the highest point within the Austin city limits at 785 feet. Overlooking the Pennybacker or 360 Bridge, and Lake Austin directly, the Hill Country to the west and the perfect spot to view the Downtown skyline at a distance to the east.
Just a short hike from the road will lead to the peak. Be prepared to climb quite a few stairs as the initial portion of the trail accounts for most of the 190 feet of elevation gained. A shelter and several picnic tables are available for your enjoyment. For more information please visit Mount Bonnell official park page.
