The Austin Studio Tour held each November for the last nine years, brings together some of the most creative minds in Austin. The goal of this two week event is to raise awareness of local art and artists - a behind the scenes look at working artist's spaces and processes. Austin Studio Tour (E.A.S.T.) has grown to more than 200 artists, and more than 150 studios and galleries in the last couple of years.
Many East side businesses and homes serve as temporary galleries, to showcase the abundant original art. Diverse as the artists themselves, the art ranges from traditional sculpture, photography, and painting, to installations and improvised art, visual (film) art, and mixed media. All studios are located on Austin’s historic east side, making it easy to navigate from one space to the next on foot or on a bike.
Like a neighborhood-wide housewarming party for only this hippest homesteads, E.A.S.T. allows us to peak briefly into the dozens of domiciles and workshops where Austin’s artists toil and create
In addition to experiencing art, there are a variety of events featuring food, music, and entertainment for all ages throughout the weekend. E.A.S.T. is free and open to the public.
