Steeped in history and tradition, the Austin Country Club dates to November 14, 1899. Founded by Lewis Hancock, former Mayor of Austin, a man of no ordinary vision. In those days country clubs and golf, were practically unknown in the area, and it is believed that the Austin Golf Club (later to be renamed the Austin Country Club) was the first of its kind organized in Texas.
The Austin Country Club offers activities to suit many diverse interests - including an 18-hole Pete Dye design golf course. Here, members can enjoy a game of golf set in a lush landscape full of shady trees, rolling hills and beautiful lake views. The Austin Country Club was home to one of the greatest golf instructors who ever lived, Harvey Penick.
Apart from golf, amenities include 10 lighted tennis courts - two which are clay surface, a heated swimming pool, top of the line fitness facility, large clubhouse and 57 boat slips.
The Austin Country Club provides an outstanding private country club experience, known for the quality of its membership and for service that exceeds expectations. It is located in West Austin on Davenport Ranch, near many unique lakeside communities.
